Last week I told you about a woman who served as a surrogate for a couple from Australia. She gave birth to twins and one had Down syndrome. The couple took the unaffected daughter home and abandoned the son with the surrogate, who deeply loves him. When the story broke in Australia, the couple hid to avoid the huge outcry against them. Later they admitted wanting the boy aborted and demanding their money back. Abortion and new technology, like surrogacy, have made children mere commodities to buy, sell or kill. Advocates try to hide behind euphemisms like “reproductive rights,” but the results are the same. Another concerning fact is the husband’s a convicted pedophile. What Australia needs are laws to protect babies from technology with no ethics.
