Hiring a surrogate to provide a baby to a childless couple is chock-full of ethical and legal problems. A young woman from Thailand was promised about nine-thousand dollars to provide a baby for an Australian couple. It turned out to be twins, but the baby boy had Down syndrome. The agency and doctors kept it from the woman until her seventh month of pregnancy and then asked her to abort the affected child. She was furious and emphatically said no, asking them, “Are you still Humans?” The couple took the “normal” baby girl home and left the boy to be raised by the surrogate. She wasn’t even paid all the money. So a charity in Australia raised nearly two-hundred-thousand dollars for the boy. God is blessing his mom for doing the right thing.
