The daring escape of Amanda Berry and two other women from their kidnapper of ten years made headlines around the world. Amanda also has a six-year-old daughter. The women say their captive starved them and punched their abdomens after he got them pregnant, thus causing miscarriages. One victim said it happened to her five times. County Prosecutor, Timothy McGinty, says he’ll pursue aggravated murder charges for every baby killed. Justice can be done in Ohio because we have a fetal homicide law from the moment of fertilization. Meaning if a woman is assaulted and her baby dies anytime during pregnancy, the assailant can be charged with murder. At least thirty-eight states have some form of fetal homicide law. I wish it protected them from the violent act of abortion also.
