“Oh Canada” are the first two words of their national anthem. I know the entire thing because of the many hockey games I’ve attended. But this time I say, oh Canada what have you done? Their government has designated Dr. Helen MacMurchy as “a person of national historical significance.” But she was the biggest advocate of eugenics in the country. She was Ontario’s special Inspector for the Feeble-Minded and targeted unwed mothers. Many young women were institutionalized and their children taken away. This doctor was responsible for sterilizing thousands of them. Of course the Canadian government is ignoring her sordid past. Just like the US government does with Margaret Sanger, an eugenics leader and founder of Planned Parenthood. They funded the group with your tax dollars.
