Hope Monument
Theres a woman in Wyoming with incredible talent. My dear friend Beverly Paddleford crosses my mind often, as I pass by the Hope Monument just inside the doors to our office. The bronze sculpture depicts Jesus holding a baby, looking with compassion, forgiveness and love upon the young woman seated by his side. Beverly created the first edition of that monument over 10 years ago. It still sits in a Michigan cemetery, where Im told women go every day to mourn the loss of their unborn children through abortion.
We heard what a wonderful tool the monument is in ministering to women, so we raised the money to purchase one for our new refurbished headquarters. Beverly and her husband, Monte, delivered it in person no small gesture for a couple now operating the largest monument foundry in the nation.
All these years later, our monument still reaches aching mothers. A post-abortion recovery group meets here periodically their final ceremony held in our chapel. Women sit there on the rock alongside that sculpted mother, designed by Beverly so they, too, can find hope in the eyes of the Savior. But not only is the monument a beautiful outreach tool, its a great reminder to our staff to focus on the mission to love them both both the mother and baby.
Particularly this weekend, as Mothers Day approaches, I encourage you to consider how you might touch the lives of women still suffering from past abortions. Heres two ideas. First, consider having a Hope Monument put up in your own community as a memorial and place of healing for post-abortive mothers. Then, take part in our Mothers Day Campaign. For far too many women, Mothers Day is not a time of celebration. Its a time of sadness, pain and darkness. But we can change that. By equipping Life Issues Institute with the resources needed to reach young moms who are absolutely desperate for life-affirming truths every donation is an investment in LIFE. Please, be the hands and feet of Jesus with us so more babies can grow up to celebrate their mothers and the gift of life
Sincerely,
