Life is full of unexpected twists and turns. For around 1 in 100,000 pregnancies, conjoined twins can change everything. Tragically, many parents of conjoined twins are pressured to abort their children. This week we are joined by Nicole LeBlanc as she tells the heartwarming story of choosing life for her conjoined twins and giving them love and care for as long as they lived.

Abel Speaks
Our Abel Speaks families come to us from all over the country (and even internationally) after choosing to carry a child with a life-limiting diagnosis. This means that the baby has been diagnosed in utero with an abnormality known to reduce the duration of their life.
Most of the families we serve will lose their baby at some point in pregnancy (resulting in a stillbirth) or will have minutes, hours, or a few days with baby after birth.
The Blessings of Life Too Brief
It was supposed to be a happy time. The day of a 20-week ultrasound is a special opportunity for parents to see in greater detail the wonder of life carried within the mother’s womb. Often, it’s when they discover if their child is a boy or girl. Conversations will turn to baby showers, name choices and how to decorate the nursery. It’s a joyful time of planning and preparing for this new, precious addition to the family.
Sadly, not all parents are able to celebrate. For some, the ultrasound reveals devastating news of a grave or fatal prenatal diagnosis. What was intended to be uplifting, becomes a time of grieving. My words fall short as I can’t fathom the pain these parents experience.

NEVER accept this advice
I really detest abuse of authority. And nowhere are the consequences graver than when the life of a baby is at stake. Imagine the scene. A mother and father have just received the tragic news of a grim, prenatal diagnosis for their unborn baby. While still in shock and very vulnerable, one of the first recommendations their doctor makes is abortion. Oh it may be disguised as “termination” or “early induction,” but make no mistake, what he or she is recommending is abortion—the intentional killing of their precious baby.

Perinatal Hospice, the Most Loving Option
Few things in life derail a parent’s world more than being informed that the unborn baby they were excitedly anticipating has an illness deemed “incompatible with life” or “a life-limiting condition.” Perinatal hospice is the most loving option.
At times like these medical professionals should proceed with great sensitivity and compassion, realizing that even though this child’s life will likely be short, she is a gift from God. Her brief presence on this earth will serve a purpose often known only to the Creator.
Perinatal Hospice a Better Option
When a woman’s faced with the tragic reality her unborn child’s condition is incompatible with life, over half are immediately given the option of abortion. But a new study demonstrates abortion’s not the answer. Perinatal hospice is.
