Experiencing teenage pregnancy can be overwhelming. While teenage pregnancy is certainly not ideal, young mothers need the loving help of all who truly champion the cause of life. When a teen becomes pregnant, she may feel isolated, anxious, and overwhelmed. What they really need is resources, support and gentle guidance. This week we joined by Evelyn West and Jess Ford as we discuss how to navigate this important topic.

Police Captain Evie Lastra West grew up in Orange County, California. Her life’s resume includes ex-gang member from California, two-time teen mother, who was faced with the decision to terminate her second unborn son. However, through God’s amazing grace, she has been redeemed and has lived to tell about it.
Evie published a book called “Revolving Choices: Playing Roulette with Life”. This book is a story of Evie’s life and the consequences of her choices. In 2001, Evie graduated from Lee College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Intercultural Studies. In 2019, she obtained her master’s in public safety from Tennessee Tech University. She has been a police officer for the City of Cleveland for over 21 years.
Jess Ford at just 16, he co-founded Ignite Student Ministries, a weekly multi-site gathering that reached over 1,000 students across the Dallas–Fort Worth area. He went on to earn a degree in Ministry and Leadership and an MBA in Christian Leadership from Oral Roberts University, equipping him with both pastoral depth and strategic expertise. Jess has since worked with leading organizations including Live Action, Focus on the Family, Embrace Grace, Stand for Life, and hundreds of pregnancy centers nationwide. He also serves as a writer for Focus on the Family, contributing thoughtful content on faith and life.
