As we gather with friends and family we remember the greatest gift of all time. Jesus Christ, Lord of Lords and King of Kings, came to save the world.
John 3:16-17 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.”
We see in Luke 1:41-42 the clear personhood of both Jesus and John the Baptist in the womb as unborn baby John the Baptist leaped when in the presence of Jesus in the womb:
“When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!”
When King Herod learned that Jesus was born, he sought to kill Him and ordered the slaughter of innocent babies. Throughout history there are many examples of evil people seeking to kill innocent babies. For example, the Ammonites and Canaanites who worshiped Molek and would sacrifice their children in barbaric fashion.
Leviticus 20:2-5 says, “Say to the Israelites: ‘Any Israelite or any foreigner residing in Israel who sacrifices any of his children to Molek is to be put to death. The members of the community are to stone him. I myself will set my face against him and will cut him off from his people; for by sacrificing his children to Molek, he has defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name. If the members of the community close their eyes when that man sacrifices one of his children to Molek and if they fail to put him to death, I myself will set my face against him and his family and will cut them off from their people together with all who follow him in prostituting themselves to Molek.’
As the Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 1:9 there is nothing new under the sun. Sadly, Planned Parenthood and others still seek to kill innocent babies to this day while many in the community close their eyes and ignore the evil before us.
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we fight to protect the rights of the unborn and ensure that they too can grow up and know Jesus as Lord and celebrate the greatest gift ever given.
