This week’s election results are an alarming reminder of how much work is still to be done.
Radical pro-abortion candidates and those who flagrantly discard the sanctity of human life have won across the board.
In New Jersey, Democrat candidate Mikie Sherril won with a commanding 56% of the vote. Similarly, in Virginia, the pro-abortion candidate Abigail Spanberger won with 57% of the vote.
In perhaps the most egregious election on this week’s ballot, Jay Jones has been elected as Virginia’s next Attorney General.
Jones was famously exposed for vile text messages where he fantasized about killing one of his political adversaries.
Jones’ text thread read:
- “Three people, two bullets
- Gilbert, hitler, and pol pot
- Gilbert gets two bullets to the head
- Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time”
But his disgusting comments did not end there. He also said of his opponent, “I mean do I think Todd and Jennifer are evil? And that they’re breeding little fascists? Yes.” He continued, “Yes, I’ve told you this before. Only when people feel pain personally do they move on policy” in response to concerns that he was wishing death upon the children.
The thought of an Attorney General fantasizing over the murder of those who disagree with him should be startling to us all.
Unfortunately for many Americans, wishing death upon innocent people does not disqualify a candidate from being elected. If it did, no pro-abortion candidate would ever get elected.
Abortion does not exist in a vacuum.
Our society cannot look the other way as tens of millions of our most innocent citizens are killed upon the altar of convenience without devastating consequences.
Our collective hearts are hardened by the evil that has been normalized in our society.
It is simply illogical to believe that those who support the slaughter of the unborn would balk at the thought of killing the born.
As we evaluate the ramifications of this week’s election, one thing is clear. We must fundamentally change the electorate if we want to achieve legislative and political victories.
Our culture at large does not value life as it should. Until we address that root issue, we will not find success at the ballot box.
Pro-life education is critical to changing culture.
We have the truth on our side, science on our side, and morality on our side. Pro-life education can penetrate the most pro-abortion of states, and it can change the hardest of hearts.
In the end, we will win.
