CINCINNATI – Life Issues Institute President Bradley Mattes today praised President Trump’s pro-life leadership during his first 100 days in office.
“President Trump has demonstrated solid pro-life leadership on several levels,” Mattes said.
“He has stopped U.S. funding of a United Nations program that paid for coerced abortions, and successfully nominated a pro-life justice to the U.S. Supreme Court. He also has signed a bill allowing states to restrict funding of Planned Parenthood, and is pushing to exclude abortion from Obamacare.
“Many doubted Mr. Trump’s pro-life credentials, but he’s proven the naysayers wrong. We are deeply grateful to the president,” Mattes said.
President Trump’s first 100 days pro-life highlights:
- Supreme Court nomination: President Trump nominated and saw confirmed Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, a passionate defender of life issues and religious liberty.
- The Mexico City Policy: President Trump reinstated the policy that blocks U.S. federal funding for non-governmental groups that provide abortion counseling and referrals. Also blocked is money to promote decriminalization or expansion of abortion.
- Stopping U.S. money to the United Nations Population Fund: This fund directed more than $32 million a year to projects including the paying for coerced abortions and sterilizations under China’s forced abortion policy. The funds will be redirected to provide medical care to families around the world through
- Signing HJ Res. 43: The law allows states to defund Planned Parenthood through the Title X Family Planning program.
