A Monumental Victory for Life: Congress Ends Taxpayer Funding of the Abortion Industry

Today marks a beautiful and historic day for the pro-life movement and, most importantly, for unborn babies across America. After years of tireless advocacy and determined action, Congress has passed landmark legislation that will end taxpayer funding of the abortion industry for one year.

This monumental achievement is expected to save countless innocent lives nationwide. Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion chain, commits over 400,000 abortions per year while receiving more than $2 million in taxpayer dollars every single day.

Ahead of the vote, Planned Parenthood acknowledged that without federal funding, they may be forced to close as many as one-third of their physical abortion facilities. The taxpayer subsidization of the abortion industry must come to an end.

Brad Mattes, President of Life Issues Institute, responded to the news, saying, “This victory is a long time in coming and was the subject of many prayers. It is the first time that taxpayers won’t be forced to underwrite Big Abortion. Congress demonstrated today that killing America’s most vulnerable citizens is not the role of government. We rejoice!”
