Today marks Memorial Day, a national day of honoring those who have valiantly fought to secure the rights of all Americans, and people around the world. Countless soldiers have bled and died so we might enjoy the freedoms denied by many countries. Freedoms that many see at risk in the wake of COVID19. The most basic right we celebrate is life itself, because without the right to life there is no right to education, immigration, free speech, and much, much more. When you see a veteran, thank them. When you encounter someone who lost a loved-one to battle, embrace them and let them know their sacrifice and that of their soldier will never be forgotten, never be taken for granted, and always be cherished and appreciated.
