Today’s news out of Texas is a victory for the sanctity of life. Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that the City of San Antonio has shut down its controversial abortion travel fund, which had earmarked taxpayer dollars to help women travel out of state for abortions.
Thanks to Paxton’s legal challenge and the passage of Senate Bill 33, which makes it illegal for local governments to use public funds for abortion-related activities, that fund is no more.
While the city disputes the Attorney General’s claim to victory, the outcome is still clear: San Antonio taxpayers will not be forced to subsidize the killing of innocent unborn children. Moral communities respect life and support real alternatives to abortion. They don’t ask the taxpayer to foot the bill for sending women to kill their children.
