Adopted in 1976, the Hyde Amendment, forbids taxpayer dollars from directly funding most abortions in the United States. Every year since, it has been reaffirmed by Congress and every year, it has saved lives. According to a recent analysis by our friends at the Charlotte Lozier Institute, the Hyde Amendment has protected more than 2.6 million unborn babies from abortion since it was first passed. Each and every one of those lives saved is a testimony to the impact of persistent, principled pro-life advocacy. The historic success of the Hyde amendment reminds us that our efforts matter. Your voice can save lives. It also highlights a vital role of education, because informed hearts and minds lay the foundation for every legislative victory and every life spared from abortion.
