Seen as Special Babies

I’m ashamed that a country as enlightened as America would abort so many babies with Down syndrome instead of welcoming the many blessings they bring into the world.  I’m even more ashamed when this research of ancient individuals came to light.  Analyzing DNA, they looked for cases of Down syndrome.  They found six children who were buried over two thousand years ago.  Most lived only a short time, probably because of health conditions without modern medicine to alleviate them.  Here’s the interesting part.  Few children were privileged to be buried inside the house, which indicates these were seen as special babies – valued and cared for members of their ancient societies.  America can learn and do better.  For information and free resources on Down syndrome visit lifeissues.org.
