It’s getting closer! We’re almost to Christmas, my favorite time on the calendar. Every year there’s interesting discussion whether or not Jesus was born on December twenty-fifth. The day we celebrate God’s best gift to us – eternal life wrapped in a tiny child – isn’t important. What is crucial is that we believe and treasure God’s word regarding the facts surrounding his birth. Luke details it beautifully. Please set aside some time in this whirlwind of joy and celebration to read Luke’s account of a modest beginning that will ultimately end in Jesus returning on a cloud with angelic trumpets sounding his arrival. That entrance will be quite different from the lowly, dirty manger. Just as we wait with great anticipation for Christmas, we can do the same with his second coming.
