A majority of women in Pennsylvania who had elective abortions did so at facilities that failed state health inspections. This means women who entered legal abortion facilities were unaware they failed to meet safety standards. Some violations involved the very serious issue of misusing anesthetic drugs, postoperative anesthesia recovery and unsafe discharge of patients after surgery. Another area was the unsanitary process for storing baby body parts, one center kept frozen parts for over a year. Even though half of the state’s abortion centers failed their inspections, they face no disciplinary actions. Meanwhile the governor’s going after prolife pregnancy centers by taking away their funding and making them targets for false complaints and charges.
