Advent Season

We’re heading into the season of Advent on the church calendar.  It’s a time of joyful anticipation as we await the celebration of our Savior’s birth.  Observing Advent provides a grounded time of peace and reflection in the midst of the craziness and over commercialization of the Christmas season.  During this time, I’m reminded how a young virgin girl came under withering scrutiny for a pregnancy outside of marriage.  The only thing preventing Mary’s likely stoning was Joseph taking the child as his own.  Our message to young pregnant girls contemplating abortion can be this.  Just as God watched over Jesus and his mother, the creator has a plan for each, and every baby conceived.  Encourage them to choose life like Mary did.  They too will be blessed.
