Ian McKellen Reaches Out

Actor Ian McKellen is very well known, most notably, for Lord of the Rings.  He’s one of Millie Anna’s favorite actors, so when she posted something about him on Instagram, he saw it and reached out to the family.  Millie Anna has Down syndrome, is an aspiring model, and hopes to be an actress.  She and her parents are also disability rights advocates.  McKellen, who had a cousin with the condition, came to see Millie Anna and the family played UK tour guides for several hours.  They enjoyed the local fudge shop, watched the changing of the guard, ate lunch and helped someone search for their lost cat.  You know, normal things – well except maybe for the changing of the guard.  All this helps to show that people with Down syndrome are just like us in so many ways.
