Megan Hayes is making history. She’s the oldest living person in America with a rare genetic condition called Trisomy 18. The doctors say it is incompatible with life. Megan didn’t get the memo. She just turned 40. Her parents, Ron and Sara, say Megan who doctors predicted would live four months, loves to give hugs, watch sports with her dad, read books with mom and go to church on Sundays. And she graduated from high school. The statistics aren’t good when it comes to surviving with this condition, which affects the heart and neurological and intellectual development, but more kids are. Just like everyone else, God has a special plan for people like Megan. Sara says, “You don’t want to give false hope, but there is hope.”
