A newly published study from Italy shows women who’ve had an abortion are more than twice as likely to die by suicide compared with women who gave birth.  These findings are similar to studies in Finland and the United States.  But something from the Italy study stunned me.  The rate of women who died by suicide after suffering a miscarriage was appallingly high also.  Most of us would understand thoughts of suicide by a woman who’s had an abortion.  But how many of us are aware of the deep trauma and grief suffered by mothers and fathers of miscarried babies?  First, be aware the death of a baby – before or after birth – is anguishing.  Second, share the website, Miscarriage Hurts dot com.
