Dr. Johnson Varkey taught biology for twenty years at St. Philip’s College in San Antonio. He was fired for an “ethics violation.” His crime? He taught life begins at conception and that sex is determined by chromosomes X and Y. Varkey’s attorneys have filed a discrimination complaint against the college. As a graduate student at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Maggie DeJong conversed with fellow students on a variety of issues. She’s a conservative Christian, so students reported her to school authorities who prohibited her from having any contact with the offended students. Maggie’s attorneys won an $80,000 settlement, three professors underwent First Amendment training, and they revised their policies and student handbook. When will they learn?
