An anonymous woman is suing Google over personal data it collected on her. She was on Planned Parenthood’s website, searching for an abortionist. The abortion giant has a policy of sharing highly personal information with Google, Facebook, TikTok, and Hotjar. The information included her personal IP address, her behavior on the site, zip code, her search for an abortionist and the kind of abortion she wanted. Johnny Lin, founder of an app that blocks online tracking said, “This is absolutely shocking. It’s rare to see this degree of carelessness with sensitive health data.” Another privacy specialist, Cooper Quintin, called Planned Parenthood’s actions “irresponsible.” The abortion giant’s response was also irresponsible. It said, “Marketing is a necessary part of Planned Parenthood’s work.”
