Virginia’s Governor Glenn Younkin signed two important bills that give single mothers added support. A mother can petition a court to get noncustodial support from the father of the baby to share costs related to pregnancy and delivery. The second bill allows her to petition for child support. Far too long, many men have fathered babies without facing the financial responsibility. These new laws are steps in the right direction to empower and equip women to say “yes” to life. One senator is an OB/GYN who said, “I see the sacrifices women make every day to bring their babies into the world. A financial hardship is one added burden, and one they shouldn’t have to share alone.” To the fathers who take objection to these bills, you should have thought of that beforehand.
