Pure Eugenics

Bradley Mattes   |   March 13, 2023

Michael Hugo, chairman of the Framingham Democratic Committee, caused national outrage when he spoke against allowing pro-life pregnancy centers into the area because more babies with Down syndrome, spina bifida, or other disabilities might be born, burdening the school budget.  At first the Committee refused to even discuss the possibility of ousting Hugo.  By their inaction, Hugo’s fellow Committee members gave their stamp of approval to practicing eugenics in their community.  But pressure mounted and Hugo finally resigned.  In a statement he lamented that he’s had to make multiple apologies.  That’s probably because they didn’t much resemble a true apology.  Locals need to keep an eye on this committee because they refused to address the issue when it really counted.
