Pastor Jay McCaig was never disciplined during the decade he worked as chaplain at St. Cloud Hospital under the Orlando Health network. When someone complained about a pro-life Facebook post on his personal page, they fired him. Pastor McCaig didn’t even mention his position as chaplain on his Facebook page. He wasn’t told which company policy he violated. Nor was he told which post or posts on his personal Facebook account caused the firing. He’s suing the healthcare facility, alleging they fired him for his religious beliefs. He’s seeking lost pay, attorney’s fees, and other damages. In Orlando Health’s response they claimed to respect the “diversity of our community.” Apparently that respect is denied if being pro-life conflicts with the opinions of hospital brass.
