You often hear pro-abortion activists say abortion helps women choose when to have a child so they can achieve their career goals. The problem with this is it’s not true. Researchers studied seventeen years of Medicaid data comparing women who aborted their first pregnancies and those who gave birth. The evidence shows women who abort are over 50% more likely to have more miscarriages than those who give birth. They’re also likely to have a third more pregnancies and have more than four times as many abortions. And women who aborted had half the number of live births than those who didn’t abort. In short, a first pregnancy abortion leads to more pregnancies that result in more abortions and more miscarriages, but fewer children. Abortion isn’t a tool that empowers women.
