Researchers at Durham University in England used 4D ultrasound to watch the faces of 100 unborn babies as their mothers ate food. When carrots were consumed the babies had a happy face. But when mom ate kale, the babies looked sad or about to cry. A number of studies show babies can both taste and smell in the womb – the aromas being present in the amniotic fluid. Another study from the University of Virginia discovered behavioral traits were present in the womb, such as the inclination to cuddle or have perceptual sensitivity. Psalm 139:13 says, “You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” That is the literal truth of God’s words to our ears.
