Pro-life Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves signed a 3 1/2 -million-dollar tax credit to motivate the state’s residents to donate to non-profit pregnancy help centers. These centers survive solely from the generous donations of their communities and receive no tax funding. A tax credit is different than a tax deduction. Let’s say a Mississippi resident owed the IRS $3,000 but donated $2,000 to a pro-life center. As a result, he or she would benefit dollar for dollar. In other words, their tax liability would decrease to one thousand dollars. Mississippi understands that if they end abortion, women will need resources to turn to. That’s why a wonderful organization like Her PLAN has built a statewide safety net of resources for the women of Mississippi.
