Since Texas passed the Heartbeat Act ending abortion once the unborn baby’s heartbeat can be detected in a doctor’s office, many abortions have been stopped. But it’s not keeping big corporations from funding illegal abortions. Texas State Representative Briscoe Cain sent a pointed letter to Jane Fraser, CEO of Citigroup. The company stated they would fund travel expenses for any employee who needed to travel out of the state for an abortion. Mr. Cain wrote that Citicorp’s officers and employees will face criminal prosecution of Citigroup doesn’t immediately stop this unlawful activity. Existing Texas law imposes felony criminal liability that may include two to five years in prison for those who facilitate an illegal abortion. Thank you, Mr. Cain, for your boldness.
