World Down Syndrome Day

Bradley Mattes   |   March 21, 2022

Today is World Down Syndrome Day.  It’s always celebrated on March 21st because the condition is caused by and extra, or third twenty-first chromosome.  It’s a day we celebrate all those who have the condition.  We applaud them as family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and fellow church members or students.  It’s a day we work to demolish negative myths and false or outdated scientific and medical notions about people with Down syndrome.  We’re in a time of enlightenment, a time when we know that people with this condition are productive and welcome members of society.  God has a plan for every person regardless of the challenges that lie ahead, even if we can’t see what that plan is.  So, join our celebration of World Down Syndrome Day!
