Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is especially saddening to me because I have personal friends there. I traveled there soon after the Soviet Union broke up. Many people hadn’t yet heard English spoken. We found the people to be warm and friendly to outsiders. Several opened their homes to us for meals and they were just getting by on so little. While there we helped set up pro-life pregnancy counseling on mobile medical units. A lack of money drove a high number of women to abort their babies. Putin is finding out that Ukrainians are fiercely independent and protective of their people, their nation, and their culture. They have a deep-seeded distrust and abhorrence for Russia because of a long history being treated like their personal property. Please keep praying for Ukraine.
