Priest Fired for Speaking Truth

Reverend James Altman, a priest from Wisconsin, was fired for speaking the truth.  He told his congregation they couldn’t vote for pro-abortion Democrats, and he cited “gutless clergy” who don’t speak up for the truth.  His boss, Bishop William Callahan accused him of being divisive and took away his right to publicly preach, baptize or conduct marriages.  Pastor Altman responded that Jesus himself came to cause division.  I believe he was referring to Luke 12:51 when Jesus says, “Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.”  It’s an act of love to stand for biblical truths.  Law shows us our sins and the gospel reveals God’s grace.  Pastor Altman is being persecuted for speaking the truth.  May all clergy speak with his boldness.
