Pastor Robert Grant Jr. of The Father’s Way Church had an opportunity to open the Virginia House chamber with prayer. This Black pastor used it to speak truth to power, in very direct fashion, regarding the abortion issue. And it was memorable. “Woe to anyone who harms an innocent child,” he said. Some members stormed out of the chamber, but Pastor Grant was unapologetic, saying, “If you don’t want to hear what a pastor has to say, then don’t invite one.” While the styles of pastors vary, all shepherds are accountable to God for how they lead their church flock. They would do well to emulate Pastor Grant’s concern for these politicians by making sure their congregations understand God’s law regarding abortion and His grace to those who fall.
