Millennials and Party Preference

Bradley Mattes   |   May 24, 2018

There’s an interesting political trend among Millennials.  In the past they’ve supported the Democrat party.  A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll of 16,000 Millennials showed a substantial erosion of that support over the last two years.  One of the areas of concern is the economy, and increasingly they believe Republicans have a better handle on things.  But I believe the abortion issue also plays a roll.  Millennials are more pro-life than their parents.  Plus, as they grow older, get married and have children, they may be seeing things in a different light.  When you see an ultrasound of your child and watch the heart beating early in pregnancy, this vivid reality has the power to overcome political rhetoric, and Democrats and Republicans are polar opposites when it comes to abortion.  I’ll keep you posted.
