A few years back a study was released on pregnancy-related deaths of Texas women. They concluded the rate dramatically increased, coincidentally at the time abortion facilities were closed in the state. As a result, over three-hundred online news sources cited the research and railed against pro-life legislation they say was responsible for killing women. But a careful analysis of the study has been released showing a serious flaw in the methodology used which undermined their conclusion. The lead author of the faulty research was Marian MacDorman with the Maryland Population Research Center, also concluded that bans on sex-selection abortion should be replaced with “mass messaging.” Get more details in my weekly email, The Latest, at lifeissues.org.
