If you watch the A&E TV Network, you may be familiar with one of its reality shows called Born This Way. This wonderful series follows seven young adults with Down syndrome. Viewers see them tackle common challenges like relationships, employment and efforts to become independent. This year, Born This Way was nominated for six Emmy® Awards and received two — one of them for outstanding casting for a reality program. It’s a beautiful thing to see individuals with this condition portrayed in a positive light. The more people can see the blessings of people with Down syndrome, the less likely society is to abort them when detected in the womb. I’m thrilled to see the program, recently renewed for a fourth season, receive such a prestigious honor.
