Give Them More Time to Heal

Marwa is an adorable one-year-old who suffered from a virus so severe doctors put her in a medically-induced coma.  Later, they told the parents it’s time to remove Marwa’s life support.  Doctors said she had such severe brain damage she would never breathe, eat or walk on her own again.  The parents said “no” and ended up in court to force them to give Marwa more time to heal.  A court granted a two-month extension.  Days later Marwa opened her eyes and is now responding to her parents.  She just needed time.  This situation is frequently played out in hospitals throughout America and doctors are too quick to give up on patients whose brains need more time to heal.  A lack of respect for human life and the financial pressures of health care are killing patients.
