Poll Shows Christians Support Assisted Suicide

Bradley Mattes   |   December 28, 2016

A recent poll of Christians regarding their support for physician-assisted suicide is out and it’s downright frightening.  LifeWay Research, a Christian organization, polled one thousand people nationwide, asking whether they agree with this statement: “Physicians should be allowed to assist terminally ill patients in ending their life.”  Sixty-percent of Christians agreed.  We’re not talking about the right to decline treatment.  We’re talking about taking lethal medicine to intentionally end an innocent human life.  My good friend Joni Eareckson Tada responded we need to provide better options for managing pain so there are fewer of these types of requests.  I agree, and I also believe it’s crucial churches speak out against doctors ending human life.  That authority is reserved for God.
