The US Supreme Court recently ruled Texas legislation unconstitutional. In part it would’ve required abortion facilities have the same safety standards as other outpatient surgical centers. A recent emergency in Portland, Oregon clearly demonstrates why the Court was wrong. A late-term abortion mill there was in the middle of an abortion when an accidental gas explosion nearby took out their power. The abortion mill had no backup generator — a needed safety requirement — so they had to call an ambulance to transport what appeared to be a teenager to a hospital. This endangered the girl’s life and is just one example of why safety standards are necessary. It’s not just politics. If the abortion industry truly cared about women they’d agree, instead of putting women at risk.
