Evolution to the Dark Side

In the days leading up to the Democratic National Convention, attention has turned to its party platform—particularly its plank on abortion.  The final draft, in their words, “champions Planned Parenthood” and “vows to oppose and seek to overturn all federal and state laws that impede…abortion.”  Long gone is their “big tent” philosophy of the seventies.  About a decade ago they dropped the word “rare” when describing the frequency of abortion.  The plank now demands global, US taxpayer-funded abortion, which one Democrat senator, Joe Manchin, calls “crazy.”  A public reminder to convention attendees in Philadelphia will be a billboard stating “one in three Democrats are pro-life.” We hope for a turnaround but wouldn’t bet on it.
