Death Kits for Canadian Doctors

Bradley Mattes   |   September 17, 2015

Canada’s Supreme Court legalized euthanasia and the killing begins in December. In preparation, doctors are being issued a how-to manual to euthanize their patients. Death kits sent from pharmacies include a drug to calm the patient while he or she waits for the fatal dose. Then a barbiturate to put the patient into a deep coma. And finally, a neuromuscular block to kill the patient by stopping the heart and lungs. This anti-first aid kit also contains syringes, needles and intravenous tube and solutions. A second dose of the drugs is provided in the event the first round doesn’t kill them. If doctors don’t want to be part of killing their patients, they are forced to refer them to someone who will. Expect abuses to happen. And I’m curious what they’ll do with the leftover lethal drugs.
