Ray wrote, “As Dad was dying from liver failure, he knew mom would be tormented by the thought she ‘killed’ dad by not taking him to the hospital, so he would go. Dad rebounded and was home before the final turn home. By then my mom understood, and he was able to die at home surrounded by family who loved him. From someone who I did not understand fully while alive, in death he gave me an indelible memory of what sacrificial love is all about. Parenthood, Ray wrote, “is about preparing them for the sacrificial love we are asked to partake in. May we all learn to appreciate every dad who has that vision, and may all dads have that vision.” Well said Ray.
