Sunflower Mae

Every March 21st is a very special day.  It’s World Down Syndrome Day, picked because those with Down syndrome have three of the 21st chromosome.  Today I have a heartwarming story about Sunflower Mae.  She was adopted when only three days old by Andy and Mercedes Lara.  This young couple prayed for a child with Down syndrome and God brought them Sunny—as her parents like to call her.  Sunny’s adoption was finalized just days before World Down Syndrome Day and she’s the cutest, liveliest, most loving person you could ever meet.  Sunny was fortunate, because most mothers abort their babies when told they’re expecting a child with Down syndrome.  Thankfully, this mom gave life to Sunny and allowed her to be adopted into a loving family.  God is good.
