Ruby and Roy Stephens were driving from Indiana to Florida to spend Christmas with relatives. Along the way they stopped at a restaurant to eat and intentionally left Betsey, their three-week-old daughter, in the car. When they returned, Ruby found Betsey dead. Authorities determined she died from starvation. The assistant chief of police had never before seen such an emaciated child. She weighed only four pounds, half of what she should have. Plus, Betsey’s short life was full of agonizing suffering. How could the parents have ignored her continued crying? In America, abortion’s legal throughout pregnancy for any reason. Should we be surprised when parents kill their baby by starvation as they—of all things—are eating in a restaurant? Legal abortion dehumanizes children. It must stop.
