Standing on Biblical Principle

Bradley Mattes   |   October 16, 2014

Sometimes a congregation puts their money where their faith is.  The Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas is pulling out of the parent group Presbyterian Church USA because of its unbiblical stand on abortion and redefining marriage.  The problem is the parent church owns the church and its contents.  So the members anteed up and bought the church for nearly eight million dollars.  It’s only a matter of time before other churches do the same.  Those who stay may find themselves in a church body that really doesn’t stand for much of anything.  I admire the members of Highland Park for standing on biblical principle.  I suspect their considerable sacrifice will make God’s word more real and meaningful for them.  And I hope they give others the courage to do the same.
