Double Euthanasia

Bradley Mattes   |   October 07, 2014

An elderly Belgian couple arranged, with the help of their son, to both die by euthanasia at the same time.  Neither spouse wants to live after the other has died.  This scenario hit home because my colleague, Dr. Jack Willke, father of the pro-life movement, experienced the death of his wife Barbara just weeks prior to their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary.  At first Jack suffered deep but normal grief.  He had lots of us praying for him and he knows despite his grief, God still has a plan for him even without his dear Barbara.  In the case of the Belgian couple, their son John Paul—yes it’s ironic—said it would be impossible for him to take care of them every day.  Now we get to the heart of the matter.  The old people are in the way.
