Edita Tracey can be called an over-achiever. She was eight months pregnant when she suffered a tear in her aorta, a major artery in her heart. Of course they rushed Edita to surgery and the first minute or so were dedicated to a cesarean to deliver her baby girl. After that doctors labored—no pun intended—for eight hours to close a foot-long tear in her aorta. Adding to this was that Edita suffers from Marfan syndrome which weakens tissue, sometimes in the walls of blood vessels. Plus, she also had preeclampsia which is high blood pressure during pregnancy. The only cure is to deliver the baby. Each was a serious condition on its own and she faced them all at once. God was certainly with this family, as both mom and baby are home and doing fine.
