Childhood in Four Minutes

Bradley Mattes   |   April 29, 2014

Frans Hofmeester is a filmmaker and video artist who lives in Utrecht, Netherlands. I’ve been there. It’s a beautiful little city in the center of the country. When Lotte, Frans’ first child, was born, he took a brief video of her each week to keep his memories alive. When she turned fourteen, he edited her childhood into a four minute video. We can watch Lotte as a newborn baby, complete with spitting up. We witness tears and laughter. We see missing teeth, retainers and braces. We watch hair styles come and go, all which demonstrate the precious value of human life to her parents. Looking back, it seems like my children’s childhood was over in about four minutes. To share Lotte’s childhood with her loving father, visit today’s broadcast link at life issues dot org.
