Parental Involvement Laws Work

Bradley Mattes   |   October 04, 2013

As more and more states pass pro-life legislation, researchers can determine whether or not it’s having a positive effect on those for whom it’s intended. Dr. Michael New has been following this research and brought a recent study to my attention. It shows very solid evidence that laws requiring parental involvement in abortion decisions reduce the rate of suicide in teen girls. The drop can be over twenty-percent. It can also drop the cases of gonorrhea by about the same. There’s a growing body of evidence—now over sixteen peer-reviewed studies—that show when parents are involved, there’s fewer pregnancies, abortions and STDs. These laws not only prevent abortions, but also protect the health of teen girls. It’s always been God’s plan for parents to guide and help their children.
